Milagro House Volunteer Philosophy

Milagro House volunteers help the women residents to navigate life's challenges and to become successful in their lives and as mothers.

List of Volunteer Opportunities

  • Tutor (working with residents on GED projects – weekly)
  • Driver (driving residents to appointments and running errands - weekly)
  • Office Assistant (accepting donations, assisting residents and staff, and answering phones - weekly)
  • Donations Organizer (sorting clothing donations by size and organizing household goods - weekly)
  • Gardener and Yard Worker (weeding flower beds, mowing lawn and shoveling snow – once a month or as needed)
  • Babysitter (caring for residents' children while they are in therapy or group meetings – once or twice a month)
  • Newsletter Editor (quarterly newsletter)
  • Skilled Contractors (carpentry, plumbing, etc. – as needed)
  • Movers (assisting residents with their move to independent housing after successful completion of their program – trucks and drivers needed)
  • Graphic Designer (4 hours/month)
  • Car Mechanic (as needed basis)
  • Planned Group Projects (e.g. collections drives, fundraising projects, car washes, etc.)
  • Special Events (accompanying women and children on trips to museums, community events, apple picking, etc.)

Volunteer Training and Orientation (Training programs will be held twice a year for all new and current volunteers. The next volunteer orientation is scheduled for January, 2012.)
